Union West

Skyline Art collaborated with Perkins and Will, along with hospital leadership, to create a dynamic and soft contemporary art program for Atrium Health Union West, a new hospital located just outside Charlotte, designed to feel like a true community center. Guided by evidence-based design principles that emphasize familiarity, discovery, and positive distraction, the program features work by local and regional artists that reflect the area’s diverse geography, ranging from coastal grasslands to mountain ranges. Using layered materials and thoughtful composition, the art encourages a deeper engagement. Over a two-year process, Skyline Art curated a cohesive collection that transforms the traditional hospital experience into one of warmth, curiosity, and healing, offering moments of comfort and connection for patients, visitors, and staff alike.
